Zoning In

The Rules at Zoning In

  1. This is a private site, designed for people ages 12-25 who have ADHD. If you are over 25, try our sister site ADD-ults.com. The only exceptions to this are the few professionals we have invited to participate.
  2. However, even with this rule, the rest of you must be careful. Never, EVER, meet in person with anyone you don't know and haven't seen. Okay, we know you guys grew up with the internet and know that there are bad people who use it. You are on the web, which means that you are still in public. We've added a layer of privacy by making this a private group, but there is no way to monitor to be sure the only people who join are teenagers with ADHD. We don't know if the people on this site are your college admissions counselor, your future boss, or some crazy old coot in Zanzibar.
  3. Use common sense on-line: Don't give out personal information about yourself or your location over the web to strangers, and don't publish information on the Web that you don't want made public.
  4. Part of the fun of this website is that eventually Zoningin members may decide to hold an event, and that's fine. A Zoningin party in your home town is a great idea. But be safe and make sure people who attend are members and not strangers. Make the party for every Zoningin member who wants to attend, not an arrangement made between two people.
  5. You are welcome to upload videos or pictures. Keep them clean and inoffensive. If they're not, they won't be uploaded. Simple as that. For this reason, it might take a couple of days to upload stuff as it must actually go through an approval process.
  6. On the public forums, keep your language clean and inoffensive. Rant if you want to, but use language that is appropriate for all members of this group. Some people might not be offended at raunchy language, and other people might.
  7. We'd like to keep the group helpful to all types of folks. If you swear on the public forums, we'll edit.
  8. Similarly, if you want to tell about particular problems that you have had at school or with another individual (teacher, coach, etc.), that's fine. But don't be specific. In other words, it's fine to say, "My French teacher threw a book at me and I do mean literally."It's not fine to say, "My French teacher, Mrs. Johnson at Maryville High in Topeka, Kansas, threw a book at me." Mrs. Johnson doesn't need that grief, and neither do we.
  9. We won't always be monitoring your private-page blogs, but others might. You'd be amazed at how many teenagers we see whose parents come and tell us what their kids have written on their private blogs. Food for thought.
  10. If someone does read your private blog and finds it offensive, they can report it to us and we'll read it. If we believe it to be outside of the realm and purpose of this site (i.e., an online support group), then we'll delete it and you will be notified.
  11. Nobody's going to read your ZoningIn messages but you. If you do get unwelcome or offensive messages, please speak up. Site administration will help you make sure it stops.
